DLAD Development Team

For DLAD to fulfill its mission, leadership to hold the supporting leadership, legal, and financial health of the project will be crucial. That’s where you and your expertise might be instrumental.

We need community leaders with organization development, legal, and financial skills who are willing to lead the development of the DLAD project, including:

Startup phase

  • Organization structure community partnership.
    • Org meeting
      • HHS Toolkit
      • Whatcom County charter structure? Kristi SletteLin 5/29
      • Name? DLAD ties to the FEMA suggested organizations, VOAD and COAD. Is it worth considering Community-Owned Disaster Registry or another name?
      • Should the organization live as a program of an existing community organization or should it remain a loose partnership of organizations (like the By Names List group, Rogue Hub, or Reimagine and Rebuild Rogue Valley?)
  • Privacy policies – how data can and cannot be used and shared
  • Integrated leadership in disaster response.  DLAD should, at a minimum, participate in LTRG and COAD steering committees.
  • Creating a culture of volunteerism within the DLAD community based on commitments to participate in solution and team development and to step in if/when disaster strikes to ensure DLAD can register everyone affected in the most effective and efficient way possible.
  • Fundraising

Later phases

  • Information Sharing Agreements – ISAs
  • MoUs for partner organizations
    • Local CBOs will be instrumental to registering a complete set of people affected by the disaster.
    • Agreements should be made regarding reimbursing the organizations for their efforts to register people for a complete, accurate, verified registry of those affected.
    • Agreements and tools should be in place for partner CBOs to update and analyze the records they have created to ensure they can care for their own clients and easily report on their own efforts and impacts.
    • Anonymized set of the entire dataset should be made available to the CBOs for their own analysis of their efforts and impacts in the context of the overall recovery.
